$1.6 million funds will be used to install sustainable, clean, solar power throughout the CCSS campus. Installing photo voltaic systems throughout the campus will provide continuous energy for all buildings and do so in an environmentally friendly way.

This initiative incorporates solar energy into affordable housing for low-income residents in Detroit, advancing both environmental sustainability and cost efficiency.
Furthermore, CCSS has integrated solar lighting across its campus, strengthening resilience during power outages. Notably, during a recent campus-wide blackout, their buildings remained illuminated, thanks to the reliability of their solar-powered lighting systems.
